If you’re wondering, do I have anxiety, please read on. For some people, anxiety can look like this: no matter what you do, you feel like you just can’t get it together. You’re constantly worrying about what might happen next, you’re heart is racing, you may start to sweat, your chest is tight and the thoughts… you just can’t stop them from going and going and going. You think of the “worst case scenario” ALL the time and sometimes you may picture these awful things happening to you and people you care about. You don’t want to tell people about how you’re really feeling because they may judge you, but you can’t make the stress go away… you feel scared and alone.

… but you’re not! A lot of people struggle with anxiety, it’s one of the most common mental health issues that people struggle with.

We can talk about ways to relax your body and focus your mind. We can use techniques that have proven to be effective, like mindfulness, breathing, and movement. There’s lots of cool tricks and tools that can help and I would like to share all of them with you!

For example, square breathing is a cool technique, let’s try it now. Relax your body and close your eyes. Next, imagine a square and you’ll follow along each side.

  • First side, breathe in for 4 seconds

  • Second side, hold for 2-4 seconds

  • Third side, breathe out for 4 seconds

  • Fourth side, hold for 2-4 seconds… and repeat a few times.

How do you feel? I’d like to hear about how this worked for you.

If any of the feelings above sound like something you may be experiencing, you may be struggling with anxiety. Finding a counselor near you is important.
